Columbia, Mo., Jan. 24, 2012 – Cardinal fans in Columbia will soon have the unique opportunity to see and get a free photo with the 2011 World Series Trophy through the St. Louis Cardinals World Championship Trophy Tour presented by U.S. Cellular. The trophy will appear in Columbia on Jan. 25 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the U.S. Cellular store located at 213 N. Stadium Blvd., and will return on Saturday, Jan. 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the U.S. Cellular store located at 2703 E. Broadway.
“Through our partnership with the Cardinals, we are always looking for ways to enhance the fan experience,” said Nathan Waddell, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Missouri. “Bringing the trophy to the fans through the trophy tour is one of the ways U.S. Cellular and the Cardinals can reward fans for their loyalty and support. U.S. Cellular believes in rewarding our customers, which is one reason why we have the happiest customers in wireless.”
Cardinal fans are invited to come to the retail location with their own cameras or devices and get a photograph taken with the trophy at no cost. While at the U.S. Cellular store, fans can upgrade their device to a smartphone with a high-quality camera, like the Motorola Electrify, and get a double play of savings on U.S. Cellular’s line-up of cutting-edge devices with a waived activation fee and instant rebate on all devices when purchased the day of the tour stop.
For those that may have forgotten their cameras, U.S. Cellular associates will have an HTC Flyer mobile tablet on hand to take pictures of the fans and can send the photos directly to their email accounts so the picture can be shared with friends and family.
The 30-pound trophy stands two-feet tall and features 30 gold-plated flags, one for each of the Major League Baseball teams, which rise above an arched baseball with latitude and longitude lines symbolizing the world. To ensure the proper preservation, the trophy will travel in a case in its own luxury vehicle throughout the tour.
The trophy will be making its way to more than 50 U.S. Cellular locations in Missouri, Southwestern and Central Illinois and Tulsa, Oklahoma. Fans from Mid-Missouri can also see the trophy at the following upcoming tour stops.
- Thursday, Jan. 26, from 3 – 7 p.m. at 1922 Missouri Blvd. in Jefferson City
- Friday, Jan. 27, from 3 – 7 p.m. at 1887 N. Bluff St. in Fulton
