1/3/17 – Community Living, Inc. to Host 17th Annual Legacy Ball

Community Living, Inc., will once again recognize the many significant contributions made by two local leaders whose dedicated efforts are benefiting individuals with disabilities across St. Charles County as the organization hosts its 17th annual Legacy Ball. Set for Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the St. Charles Convention Center, the event will kick off at 5:30 p.m. and will feature a four-course wine dinner, oral and silent auctions and live music by Serapis. During the event, Community Living supporter Mark Hollander will receive Community Living’s Legacy Award, while Lisa Baue, of Baue Funeral Homes, will be presented with the organization’s Community Volunteer of the Year Award. Proceeds from the Legacy Ball, which is one of St. Charles County’s premier gala events, will benefit the more than 1,000 individuals and their families who are served by Community Living.

Mark A. Hollander has been selected to receive Community Living’s Legacy Award based on his integral support of Community Living and the greater St. Charles County community. Mark has spent 35 years in the banking business and is now a Business Banking Relationship Officer at UMB Bank. A lifelong resident of St. Charles County, Mark is a dedicated community volunteer and philanthropist whose efforts have benefited numerous St. Charles area non-profits. Mark is a former board member and chairman of Community Living Inc., and is a current board member of the O’Fallon Family YMCA, a board member of Vision St. Charles County, and board secretary with Faith Chapel Church. He also serves as Treasurer for the Sparrow’s Nest Maternity Home Board and volunteers with Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society. Mark was recently honored as the 2016 VISIONARY of the Year by Vision St. Charles County, and was also recognized as one of Streetscape Magazine’s “Beyond the Best” Class of 2016.

Lisa Baue, President/CEO and Owner of Baue Funeral Homes, Crematory and Cemetery will receive Community Living’s Community Volunteer of the Year Award in recognition of her efforts to support the St. Charles community. Serving St. Charles and St. Louis Counties since 1987, Baue Funeral Homes and the Baue family have been dedicated to giving back to the community. Under Lisa’s leadership, she and her staff work to raise funds for the Salvation Army, host St. Charles County’s Healthy Living Senior Fair, which serves 1,200 seniors annually, and conduct over 300 educational programs for clergy, hospice, civic and community groups each year. In the 1990s, Lisa was instrumental in developing an anti-drug and alcohol ad campaign that received commendations from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Midwest Division. Outside of her community efforts with Baue, Lisa is a member of the ATHENA International women’s leadership organization, a current member and Past-President of the Rotary Club of St. Charles and founding president of the Crimestoppers Board. Lisa also served as a member of the board of directors for the National Foundation of Funeral Service Management School, is a past member of the Hope Lutheran Church Parish Council and served on the National Funeral Service Board of Selected Independent Funeral Homes.

“As one of the most distinctive and sophisticated galas in St. Charles County, the Legacy Ball is always a highly anticipated event, and one that plays a very important role in helping our organization continue our work to enrich the lives of people with disabilities in St. Charles County,” said Barb Griffith, President and CEO of Community Living, Inc. “We are looking forward to celebrating the remarkable contributions of Mark A. Hollander and Lisa Baue, and we invite and encourage the community to join us for this elegant night out for a good cause.”
