06/03/14-Unique Opportunity For Local Chefs To Bring Their Own Restaurant Concept To St. Albans Now Available At Former Malmaison Space

With improvements now complete in the kitchen located in the restaurant space formally known as Malmasion, owner Datra Herzog has announced that the historic space is now available to St. Louis area restaurateurs interested in leasing out the space on a long-term or short-term ”pop-up” basis. This unique opportunity will give both up-and-coming and established chefs the chance to operate their own ala carte dining concept within the St. Albans community.

The restaurant space is located at 3519 St. Albans Rd. The site also serves as an upscale wedding and special event venue and boasts gorgeously landscaped garden areas with stone fireplaces, an outdoor bar and a wood-burning pizza oven which will also be available. Originally built in 1843 as a barn, the main building was transformed and opened as a restaurant in 1928 by Irene Johnson who named it the “Old Barn Inn.” In 2013, Herzog purchased the main building and surrounding property and announced renovations and additions to include four cottages, an ala carte commercial kitchen renovation, a new banquet pavilion and catering kitchen. Herzog is currently looking for a new restaurateur to operate the ala carte dining venue, which has indoor seating for 78 and the capability to seat 100 more outdoors, while she focuses on weddings and special events at the Gardens at Malmaison and The Studio Inn at St. Albans and the continued real estate development of both venues.

“What we’re offering is a chance for area chefs and restaurateurs to test their dining concepts in our existing restaurant space on a long or short-term basis, with the option to make the venue their permanent home,” said Herzog. “The updates made to our kitchen are designed to impress the most discerning chef, as we now offer state-of-the-art equipment combined with a dining space and location like no other.”

Local chefs and restaurateurs may contact Datra Herzog at 636-458-0131 to learn more.

“From the construction of our new guest cottages and pavilion to the development of our new winery, excitement is building in St. Albans, and with our kitchen renovations now complete, there’s no better time than now for area chefs to consider operating a restaurant on our property,” noted Herzog.
