05/02/14 – Delta Dental Health Theatre To Host Plaquey Wacky Germ And Fat Busting 5k On June 21

Area families are encouraged to join Delta Dental Health Theatre for its inaugural Plaquey Wacky Germ and Fat Busting 5K and 1.5-mile Tooth Wizard Trot. The event is set for Saturday, June 21, at 9 a.m. at Willmore Park (6499 Jamieson Ave., 63109) and will feature the races, followed by the chance to jump through a sneeze, make faux poo, boogie down, bounce around and take part in other ed“EWWW”cational activities. Proceeds will help bring new programming to the theatre. Those interested, can register at Delta Dental Health Theatre’s website, www.ddhtstl.org, by clicking on “special events.”

Registration for the Plaquey Wacky 5K is $30 per person and includes a t-shirt and timing by Fleet Feet. The 1.5-mile Tooth Wizard Trot is $15 for individuals and $30 for families and includes one Healthy Boogie Bag. This pricing is available through Tuesday, May 20, and then increases by $5 per registrant through Friday, June 20, and by $10 per registrant the day of the race.  Additional t-shirts are available for $15 each or two for $25 while supplies last. Registration opens at 8 a.m. the day of the event. The Plaquey Wacky 5K gets underway at 9 a.m., followed by the 1.5-mile Tooth Wizard Trot at 9:30 a.m. Interactive family fun will continue until 12 noon.

“The race is an extension of the type of work the theatre does to empower children and families to make healthier day-to-day life choices,” commented Shannon Woodcock, executive director of the Delta Dental Health Theatre. “We are confident it will be a one-of-a-kind event , that’s sure to encourage running enthusiasts, as well as area individuals, children and families to be on a mission for optimum health.”

Sponsorship opportunities are available for interested businesses, organizations and individuals. Levels include Plaque Smackers ($5,000), Germ Busters ($2,500), Golden Veggie Victors ($1,000), Silver Scrubba Dubba Sponsor ($500), Bronze Bouncercizer ($250), “Perspirational” Sign Provider ($150) and Boogie Buddy ($100). Sponsorship incentives vary depending upon the level of giving and feature company tables at activity areas, complementary race entries, company logos on t-shirts or signage around the race course, recognition at the start of the race and more.

The Delta Dental Health Theatre was originally organized as a program under the Foundation of the Greater St. Louis Dental Society in 1977. In 2002, it was incorporated as an independent 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization. Seven years ago, Delta Dental of Missouri became a major corporate sponsor supporting the theatre’s mission to improve the overall oral health and healthy habits of children and families. The theatre is located on Laclede’s Landing in the same building as the Old Spaghetti Factory.
