St. Louis, Mo., July 24, 2013 … Affton-based Haberberger Inc. is marking a major milestone this year. Founded in 1948, the family-owned mechanical contracting company, currently recognized among the top 10 mechanical contractors in the St. Louis region, is celebrating 65 years in business.
The third generation-owned business began as a one-man refrigeration service shop serving grocery stores, bakeries and meat markets, before transitioning to commercial refrigeration, then air conditioning and ultimately becoming the company it is today after adding industrial and commercial piping work. Within the past 15 years, Haberberger has grown to include fabrication and sheet metal services, and has expanded its service area to Eastern Missouri and Southern Illinois, with occasional projects in Arkansas and Kentucky.
After years of transition and growth, Haberberger has emerged as an industry leader in the St. Louis area, with annual revenues in 2012 surpassing $35.5 million. A regular award recipient for outstanding work, safety initiatives and work environment, the firm’s reputation for excellence has allowed it to attract and retain several notable clients, including Anheuser-Busch, Ameren Missouri, Boeing, General Mills, Mallinckrodt, MEMC Electronics, MSD, Pepsi and Washington University.
Today, the company functions under the leadership of President Neil Haberberger, Mark Haberberger, Vice President of Service, and Steve Haberberger, Sr., Vice President of Operations. Both Steve and Mark have sons working for Haberberger, representing the fourth generation in the company. Haberberger also benefits from the wealth of expertise employees bring to the table, with 13 employees having at least 25 years experience each. Several employees also have second and third-generation family members serving as pipefitters, proving that the “family business” isn’t just limited to the Haberberger name.
