10/16/12 – Less than a Week Left to Vote in U.S. Cellular’s Calling All Communities Campaign

ST. LOUIS, Oct. 16, 2012…With less than a week to go in U.S. Cellular’s (NYSE: USM) Calling All Communities campaign, nearly 100,000 votes have been cast, including more than 37,000 in the past seven days. Schools have been in and out of the Top 18 every week, so there is still time for schools to rally their communities and get their share of $1 million. Four schools from the St. Louis metro area remain in the Top 100, including St. Gerard Majella of Kirkwood, which has finally broken into the Top 18, moving up 16 spots over the past week to land at number eight on the list.

The other local schools vying for votes that have held onto positions in the Top 100 as the voting has intensified include St. Patrick School in Wentzville (number 58), Yeatman Middle School in St. Louis (number 63) and Neidringhaus Elementary School in Granite City, Ill. (number 80). The last Top 100 school list before the winners are announced can be seen at uscellular.com/callingallcommunities.

“Now is the time for schools and communities to keep their momentum going to ensure their spot among the top vote-getters,” said Nathan Waddell, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Missouri. “There is only a short time left to vote, but things can change in a day. There are still opportunities for schools to put on a strong final push for votes and make their way in to the Top 18.”

The top 18 schools that receive the most votes will win a share of $1 million to spend any way they see fit. The school that garners the most votes will receive $150,000, and the next 17 vote-getting schools will each receive $50,000. The voting period ends this Sunday, Oct. 21.

Anyone 18 years or older can visit any U.S. Cellular store and receive a code to vote for their favorite school.[i] Enter the code online at uscellular.com to cast your vote. Public and private schools, kindergarten through high school, are eligible to win. No purchase is necessary and you don’t have to be a U.S. Cellular customer to vote. The winning schools will be announced in November.
