8/24/12 – St. Andrew’s Resources for Seniors Launches “Ageless Voices” Lecture Series

ST. LOUIS, MO., August 24, 2012… On Tuesday, Sept. 4, the St. Andrew’s Resources for Seniors’ Ageless Society and the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center will present the first discussion in the newly created Ageless Voices Lecture Series. Focused on highlighting the importance of plant science for our region and the planet, the discussion will feature remarks from Danforth Plant Science Center president James C. Carrington, Ph.D., and William H. Danforth, M.D., Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Danforth Plant Science Center and Chancellor Emeritus of Washington University.  Topics will include conservation, technology and the environment.

The event will begin at 3:30 p.m. with tours of the Danforth Plant Science Center, located at 975 North Warson Road, followed by a 4:30 p.m. reception in the building’s Lower Atrium Commons. The panel discussion will begin at 5:15 p.m. in the building’s AT&T Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

The Ageless Voices Lecture Series was created by St. Andrew’s Resources for Seniors, and speakers for the debut lecture were selected by members of the St. Andrew’s Ageless Society, which is comprised of past Ageless-Remarkable St. Louisans honorees, and has grown to include over 200 members. The Sept. 4 event is the first of three lectures planned for the coming months.

“Our Ageless Voices Lecture Series not only gives us an opportunity to help educate the public, but it also serves as a way for our Ageless Society members to give back to their community,” said Yvette Hartsfield, Executive Director , St. Andrew’s  Charitable Foundation. “In addition to their work in selecting our lecture series speakers, we’re hoping to recruit some of our Ageless Society members to be speakers in future discussions themselves, as they are amazing individuals who have led incredible lives and have much wisdom to share. In the meantime, we encourage the public to come out for what is sure to be a thought-provoking and informative debut lecture with Dr. James Carrington and William H. Danforth.”
