2/23/12 – Casino Queen is out to find St. Louis’ Best Band through ‘SEVENS Showcase’ Competition

Band competition puts fans and patrons in the judge’s seat to vote on which band will be given $10,000 and a performance contract

East St. Louis, Ill., Feb. 23, 2012 – From Chuck Berry and Tina Turner to The Urge and Nelly and the St. Lunatics, the St. Louis area is known for producing great bands and musicians. In hopes of discovering the next great talent, Casino Queen is debuting the SEVENS Showcase Band Competition, an opportunity for local bands to compete to be named St. Louis’ Best Band, winning $10,000 and a performance contract with the Casino Queen.

From March 1 through May 10, three bands will perform every Thursday night at SEVENS Sports Lounge, and fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite performance. To vote, fans and patrons can simply cast their vote at one of the kiosks located on the casino floor, or they can go to Casino Queen’s Facebook page and select their favorite band. At the end of the 8-week competition, the bands with the most votes and best audience reaction will be invited back to compete at the semi-finals and the finale will be held on May 17.

“Several talented, local bands and musicians have performed at SEVENS, so it seemed natural for us to host a competition to find the next great band,” said Jeff Watson, general manager of the Casino Queen. “SEVENS Showcase will be a great opportunity for local bands to gain some exposure while giving their fans the chance to show their support. We’re ready for these bands to rock.”

Several spots remain open for local bands to sign up. Bands that are interested in competing should contact Laura at LaDeDa Entertainment at Laura@LaDeDaEntertainment.com. Some of the bands that have already signed up include St. Louis favorites and talented new comers.
