2/14/12 – Delta Dental Health Theatre Receives Funding From Local Organizations To Further Misson

St. Louis, MO., February 14, 2012… The Delta Dental Health Theatre is pleased to announce it recently secured a $10,000 grant from the Dana Brown Charitable Trust, U.S. Bank Trustee and a $19,850 grant from The Missouri Foundation for Health (MFH). This funding will help to further the theatre’s ongoing mission to educate and inspire local children and their families to take care of their smiles and adopt healthy lifestyles through the venue’s unique programming and interactive offerings.

Thanks to The Dana Brown Charitable Trust, U.S. Bank Trustee, The Delta Dental Health Theatre will be able to cover admission costs for those attending the theatre who express financial need. The $19,850 received from MFH will be used to establish a fund development plan that will guide the organization in its effort to secure the needed financial support, diversify funding and integrate a wider range of stakeholders in resource mobilization to continue to expand the theatre’s programs and its reach.

The Delta Dental Health Theatre is located on Laclede’s Landing in downtown St. Louis at 727 North First Street. It offers visitors the opportunity to explore interactive play exhibits, review the resources available in the Cardinals Care Healthy Library and exercise in an open space featuring child-sized exercise equipment. Guests are also entertained by the regularly scheduled “YouCan Toucan,” show co-hosted by an educator and an animatronic, talking bird. The pair leads sing-alongs to tunes like “Brush, Brush, Brush” and the oversized teeth light when questions are answered correctly during a game show portion of the program. All visiting children receive a Healthy Smiles Kit, which includes a toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss and a timer.

The Dana Brown Charitable Trust, U.S. Bank Trustee provides for the health, education and welfare of children in the St. Louis Metropolitan area through its non-profit efforts. The MFH is a philanthropic organization that strives to improve the health of people in the communities it serves. Along with encouraging healthy behaviors, MFH works toward creating equal access to quality health care services through their generous grants to local health organizations in the region.
