1/11/12 – Delta Dental Health Theatre To Offer Low Cost/Free Dental Services During National Children’s Dental Health Month

ST. LOUIS, MO, Jan. 11, 2012… In honor of National Children’s Dental Health Month, the Delta Dental Health Theatre is teaming up with Reach Out America to provide free or low cost preventative dental care services to area children on Saturday, Feb. 4 and 25 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Parents can register their children through Thursday, Jan. 26 by calling the Delta Dental Health Theatre at 314-241-7391.  Space is limited. Available time slots will fill up quickly.

The dental clinic will be held in available space adjacent to the Delta Dental Health Theatre, which is located on Laclede’s Landing at 727 North First Street in the same building as the Old Spaghetti Factory. Pre-registered children will receive a dental exam, cleaning and fluoride treatment. Payment for these services will be billed to Medicaid or the individual’s insurance company. There are also a limited number of time slots available at a first come first serve basis for children who do not have Medicaid or dental insurance. In these instances, the cost for their services will be covered at 100 percent. All visiting children will receive a free dental health kit that includes a toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, timer and sticker.

In additional to dental care services, an array of free, family-friendly activities will be held inside the Delta Dental Health Theatre. Those receiving care, as well as members of the general public, can stop by the theatre for open play, arts and crafts and kids’ yoga. Visitors can also take in the widely-popular Youcan Toucan Show at 11 a.m., which features an animatronic, talking bird who hosts a question and answer game show to help kids brush up on their oral health.

“The prevalence of dental disease among children is profound,” commented Shannon Woodcock, executive director of the Delta Dental Health Theatre. “In fact, it is the leading chronic disease among children in our nation. The good news is that it is 100 percent preventable. Our mission during National Children’s Dental Health Month, and all year long, is to work to improve the oral health and overall healthy habits of children and families. And, we believe these events will help to accomplish just that.”
