11/16/2011 – Community Living, Inc., Support Staff Members Receive Honors at 2011 Direct Support Professional Awards Ceremony

ST. LOUIS, Mo., Nov. 16, 2011. . .  Community Living, Inc., (CLI) today announced that two members of its support staff were recently recognized with Outstanding Service Awards during the 2011 Direct Support Professional Awards ceremony held Nov. 3 atSt. Charles Community College. Accolades went to Cindy Daugherty who received the Day Program award and Katherine Sisson who was presented with the Respite award. The employees were honored for their dedication to serving individuals with disabilities and their work to provide those they serve with opportunities to become active, valued members of the community.

 Daugherty has been a member of CLI’s Support Services for Adults program staff for 15 years. In her current role with CLI’sHenryCleverCenter, Daugherty’s work is focused on providing personalized support to help clients remain productive and active, and assisting them with the development of skills designed to enhance their lives. She was nominated by her co-workers for the Day Program award in recognition of her willingness to consistently go above and beyond for her clients and their families.

 For the past three years, Katherine Sisson has been a member of the support staff at CLI’s Respite Home, which provides 24/7 care to individuals with disabilities so their parents and caregivers can enjoy much-needed respite time. Sisson was recognized for her outstanding work ethic and the individualized, one-on-one care she provides to clients.

 “Our staff members are the backbone of what we do,” said Barb Griffith, President and CEO of CLI. “It is because of them that we are able to provide the outstanding, high-quality services we’re known for, and it’s a pleasure to see two of our own being recognized for their dedicated efforts. Our congratulations go out to Cindy Daugherty and Katherine Sisson, and all of our direct support staff members, on a job well done.”

Daugherty and Sisson were among eight individuals who were recognized with Outstanding Service Awards  at this year’s Direct Support Awards ceremony. All Outstanding Service Award recipients were presented with $250 scholarships which may be used to fund attendance at a professional or personal development program of their choice. One individual was also named the Direct Support Professional of the year, and was presented with a $1,500 scholarship. The 2011 Direct Support Professional Awards were presented by the Coalition of Service Providers of St. Charles County and funded through a grant from the Developmental Disabilities Resource Board of St. Charles County.
